Subject: Great job!

I agree with you whole heartily. You are right on and I am feeling so happy about your words. I become so angry and tense when I hear and read the close-minded misinformed opinions that anti-choicer's have and sometimes I get so angry I can't say anything. I have been going on this site recently where there are a lot of different forums one can look and comment on and I usually try to find forums that deal with people's opinions and questions on abortion. Almost 98% of the people commenting are anti-choicers and it's scary because they are so misinformed and uneducated about the topic, yet state there opinions as fact and if some innocent, uneducated person were to read it they could easily take it as fact. I am so tired of hearing these people use God as an excuse and incorporating the bible into everything. To me God and the bible are OPINIONS, not fact. True there are parts of the bible that were fact, but the bible now has been so transformed that it doesn't resemble any of the true original form. God is not reality and it's scary when people live their lives for something that does not exist and read some fairy tale as if it were the LAST WORD. Anyway, not to go off, I really thought your remarks and facts were fabulous and I would love it if you could e-mail me personally and talk with me more in depth.

Dear Karla,
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad to find another person who shares my views. Except for the fact that I'm an atheist and I don't see anything wrong with eliminating a blob of unformed protoplasm from ones body (i.e., early abortions), I would be considered a conservative because I believe in the Constitution, including the right to keep and bear arms, and in limited government interference in our lives. It's kind of amazing that virtually all conservatives are pro-self-defense and anti-abortion, and virtually all liberal's are anti-self-defense and pro-abortion. I guess that's why someone invented the Libertarian party!

I think the Bible was an early attempt at recording history in a small section of Asia that borders on the Mediterranean Sea, known as Canaan. Each chapter was obviously written by a different person with different views, which I think is why there are so many contradictions in it. Contrast the beautiful poetry of the Song of Solomon with the harsh rhetoric in Isaiah, for example. There is a truly excellent book that covers the documented archaeological history of that area, and relates it to events described in the Bible that I highly recommend if you're interested in correlating facts with Bible stories. It's called Asimov's Guide to the Bible and was written by my favorite scientist and science fiction writer of all time, Isaac Asimov.
